Chapel Street Cafe and Restaurant

Chapel Street Cafe brings the character of Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street to Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. Working closely with Melbourne-native proprietor Shawn Uldridge, the design team translated the warmth and casualness of Australian hospitality into a distinctly Chicago setting. Inspired by Australia’s rugged landscapes, vibrant colors, and classical architecture, the design pairs natural materials and saturated hues with clean, minimalist furnishings. The result is a space that feels both familiar and unexpected—warm, relaxed, and distinctly Australian. The project was led by Jaime Magaliff, with geniant + Eastlake Studio as Architect of Record.
