The design team reimagined 33,000 square feet within Chicago's landmark Marshall Field's Building into a workplace that trades corporate convention for downtown hotel energy. Drawing inspiration from the eclectic, artist-loft atmosphere of the Ace Hotel in New York, the design offers a full spectrum of settings - open, collaborative work zones alongside quieter, more intimate spaces, giving teams the freedom to choose how and where they work best.

Flexibility drives the plan. Common areas are designed to flex in scale, transforming effortlessly from daily workspace to client entertaining to full-scale company events, without ever feeling over-engineered for any single use.

The design's signature moment lives behind a bookshelf: a hidden speakeasy that shifts the mood entirely. Moody lighting, vintage furnishings, and playful touches like disco balls create a deliberate counterpoint to the bright, energized work areas beyond — a retreat built for late-night brainstorms and post-deadline celebrations alike. Vintage phone booths and black-and-white checkerboard flooring add eclectic character throughout, while private restrooms reinforce the boutique sensibility from end to end.

Throughout the space, locally sourced vintage furniture tells the story of the company's creative culture, lending the office the warmth, texture, and mismatched charm of a well-loved downtown hotel rather than a traditional corporate floor. The result is a workplace that feels distinctly its own. Playful, eclectic, and unmistakably collaborative, while honoring the architectural legacy of the Marshall Field's Building itself.
